Statement from the Chiume family

It is with deep regret and sorrow that we have to inform friends and the wider Pan-African community that M.W. Kanyama Chiume passed away peacefully yesterday at noon, Wednesday November 21, 2007, in New York City. Even though he had been ill for some time, he maintained strong spirit and courage throughout his illness. At his final hour, he was surrounded by his loving children. He would have been 78 years old today.

Kanyama Chiume is survived by his wife, 8 children and 6 grandchildren. A service to celebrate his life will be held this Saturday November 24th, 2007 at Flynn Memorial Home, 1652 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10710. Funeral arrangements are still being finalized.

We ask prayers of all for the happy repose of his soul. May His celestial blessings shower upon our beloved father, now and forever more.
